Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the UDHR: A Fireside Chat on its Legacy and Future (Recording)

In commemoration of the recent 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the CBA’s International Law Section will be hosting a discussion about the UDHR with Professor Habib Malik. Professor Malik is an esteemed scholar and the son of Dr. Charles Malik, who—as then Ambassador of Lebanon—played a pivotal role in the drafting and diplomatic negotiations surrounding the development and passage of the UDHR. This discussion with Professor Malik will reflect on the legacy of the UDHR to date, including its successes and shortfalls, and will then turn to considering the future role of the UDHR amidst increasing international tensions.

Speaker(s)

Habib Malik, Associate Professor of History and Cultural Studies, the Lebanese American University

Moderator
