OBA Sole, Small Firm and General Practice PROGRAM | Original Program Date: May 31, 2018
It is easy to assume that successful individuals are less likely to struggle with mental health or addiction issues. Success in the legal profession is often accompanied with high pressure, strict deadlines, and demanding clients. In high pressure jobs, it is common to experience burn out from the demands. Employees, and employers, may begin to show signs of unhealthy coping strategies as they may be wary of the stigma associated with mental health issues. Just recently, the CBC's Bonnie Brown, reported on the story of the late Supreme Court Justice Gerald Le Dain, whose struggles with mental health eventually led to his departure from the country's top court.
On May 31, 2018, we invite you to join Bonnie and our knowledgeable panel, as they discuss how to identify mental health issues in employees/clients/colleagues, ways to integrate healthy coping strategies and the resources available to the legal profession.
