OBA Criminal Justice PROGRAM | Original Program Date: June 13, 2018
Some have decried that civility is dead-gone from politics, parking, and the mainstream public discourse. As lawyers, civility between one another is not just a quaint notion. A failure to act in a civil manner may result in discipline proceedings before the Law Society of Ontario.
Does civility begin and end with the phrase “I thank my learned friend” or is there something more expected of us as barristers and solicitors? Join the Criminal Justice Section for an evening devoted to exploring the topic of civility with our distinguished panel of Judges from the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal. The evening will be informative, entertaining and provides professionalism credits.
We wish to invite young counsel with a special offer. With each paid senior counsel admission, a junior counsel (called to the bar after January 2013) can come at the student price. For those of you mentoring counsel out there, this is a great opportunity to mentor as well as earn part of your professionalism credits. For those looking for a mentor, this is your opportunity to find one. To take advantage of this special offer, please contact Eava-Kay McKnight at emcknight@oba.org.
