OBA Criminal Justice and Privacy & Access to Information LAW PROGRAM | 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM

Smartphones have become part of our everyday lives and they serve many different purposes. While we consider them part of our private property, the lines are blurred between our expectation of privacy and permitted access by law enforcement. Where does the law intersect with smart phone technology? Join our experienced faculty as they discuss the challenges, including:

  • What investigative challenges arise for law enforcement from encryption and changing technology?
  • Key search and seizure issues in standing and warrants
  • What about the victim’s privacy rights? Implications for both Crown and Defence counsel
  • Court orders and third party corporations
  • Are unique issues at play when dealing with youth, given the differences in how they use technology?

Register now and join us for an engaging conversation on an important and timely topic that affects us all.
