Construction and Infrastructure Law | Original Program Date: October 6, 2016
Join us for a lively discussion of the proposed reforms of the Ontario Construction Lien Act, with speakers Bruce Reynolds and Sharon Vogel.
In February 2015, the Ontario government engaged experienced construction lien counsel Bruce Reynolds and co-counsel Sharon Vogel of Borden Ladner Gervais, LLP, to conduct an Expert Review of the Construction Lien Act. The purpose of the Review was to examine the effectiveness of the CLA in achieving its policy objectives within the modern context, and to consider appropriate reforms to the CLA to address issues such as promptness of payment and dispute resolution, and its applicability to P3 arrangements, amongst many others.
After a multi-stage process that spanned over a year and involved extensive consultations with stakeholders, Bruce and Sharon prepared a comprehensive report setting out its expert opinion on appropriate Construction Lien Act reforms, which was delivered to the Ontario government on April 30, 2016.
At this program, Bruce and Sharon will share the story of the Review process and discuss their recommendations. Find out more about:
- How they identified the issues to be considered in the Review
