This is the archived version of a program presented on June 13, 2013.

While the media have focused on labour unrest and disputes with teacher federations and unions over the Ministry of Education's recent legislative and regulatory changes to contracts, the resulting impact of such changes on senior school officials is still unknown or unclear.  The scope of the legislation and regulations has left questions and ambiguity over the future of the contractual terms of senior staff.  It appears that how the senior staff are impacted by these changes depends on whether or not the senior officials bargain collectively or individually. What does "collective bargaining" mean in this context? But how can the government enact a regulation that uniliaterally changes the terms of pre-existing contracts? Can these regulations and legislation be enforced or challenged? How are these changes impacting on school boards across Ontario in terms of senior staff departures and succession planning?  This panel of legal experts will address the scope of the changes and what individual senior officials and school board trustees need to know in these changing times!
