The Economics and Law Committee presents:
Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms and Collusion
February 28, 2018 | 12:00 - 1:15 PM Eastern
Teleconference
Artificial intelligence and sophisticated pricing algorithms have come to play a prominent role in firms’ competitive behavior. These technological advances can deliver meaningful benefits to consumers, but might also present novel challenges for competition enforcers as algorithmic pricing has the potential to contribute to overt collusion or facilitate tacit collusions. Our panel will examine the economic issues raised by algorithmic pricing, review related antitrust cases (e.g. Topkins, Uber), and discuss what it all means for practitioners and competition enforcers.
