Canada’s new – and free – legal citation guide, the Canadian Open Access Legal Citation Guide, was recently published in June 2024 and is available on CanLII at 2024 CanLIIDocs 830.  Hear from several of its creators and learn more about the COAL Guide, including why the Guide was created, the benefits of the Guide, the details of some of its citation rules, and the reasoning behind some of the many decisions that were made in the process of creating these rules.  A focus will be placed on the practical aspects of navigating and using the COAL Guide.

RSVP (PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED) to the Manitoba Bar Association online (link above). Non-members may attend for a cost of $150.

The link to join the Zoom meeting will be sent out at 9:30am on November 25, 2024.

Attendance at this MBA Section meeting can be applied towards your Law Society of Manitoba's Continuing Professional Development requirement for a maximum of 1.5 hours.
