Synopsis
Criminal charges, discharges and convictions carry numerous collateral consequences, some obvious and others not. The panel will discuss four areas in which this issue arises with some frequency. The discussion will focus on, among other things, how a criminal charge or conviction can impact an accused's immigration status, his or her ability to travel, and his or her ability to work in a professional setting. The panel will also address emerging issues with British Columbia's civil forfeiture regime.
