Tax Round-Up – August 12 Legislative Proposals Review
On Demand. Originally presented on October 3, 2024.
Following a substantial spring legislative session, culminating in the passage of Bills C-59 and C-69 in June 2024, significant new tax architecture has been implemented in both the Income Tax Act and stand-alone pieces of legislation. Building on this legislation and additional proposals made in Budget 2024, on August 12, 2024, the federal government released a series of additional draft legislative proposals providing “technical amendments” to the Income Tax Act, further integration details on the proposed capital gains inclusion rate package, and substantive additions and alterations to the recently ratified changes. This session will provide a review of proposed changes which may be of particular interest to corporate income tax practitioners.
