Constitutional Issues Arising from Alberta’s Bills Impacting Trans and Gender Diverse Youth

Alberta recently introduced a number of Bills impacting the rights of trans and gender diverse youth. These Bills have some similarities to recent law and policy developments in Saskatchewan and New Brunswick, while differing in their scope and use of the notwithstanding clause. This presentation will examine the constitutional issues arising from Alberta’s new Bills and discuss the lessons to be learned from other jurisdictions so far.
