Gasoline and Service Station locations past and present are everywhere, and bring with them a host of environmental issues. This program will examine the technical and legal aspects of these environmental issues from a practical perspective. Speakers will discuss the nature of the typical contractual arrangements, including leases, the regulatory framework for operation and decommissioning of these stations, and several frequently occurring problems resulting from past and present practices, including important liability considerations. The role of the TSSA and the ins-and-outs of the Gasoline Handling Code will also be covered and leading recent case law, including the Court of Appeal decision in Caledonia Service Station v. Cango, will be canvassed.
