OBA International Law PROGRAM | 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM (ET)
Forced labour and child labour are serious human rights impacts that affect millions of people around the world. In recent years, several countries have enacted new legislation to prevent and address these practices. These laws impose various obligations on businesses to ensure that their operations and supply chains are free from forced labour and child labour.
Canada implemented a forced labour ban and passed S-211, which requires supply chain due diligence reporting. More recently, the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise launched investigations into allegations of Uyghur forced labour in supply chains. The United States passed the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act and has detained numerous shipments at the border for forced labour concerns. Given the geographical reach, businesses and their advisors need to understand the forced labour and supply chain due diligence requirements or face significant exposure.
Join our expert panel to make sense of the latest developments in forced labour issues and supply chain due diligence.
