Indigenous Engagement

Nov. 18, 2024
Online

Engaging with Indigenous communities in Canada is crucial for a number of reasons, including but not limited to adhering to legal and ethical responsibilities, relationship-building, and environmental stewardship.

In this webinar, participants will learn about the importance and legal requirements of Indigenous engagement and consultation, clarifying terms such as co-manage, co-develop, engage, and consult. Registrations will come away with a general awareness of Indigenous engagement principles. They will learn about Indigenous Knowledge Systems in research methodology, community protocols including OCAP, and Indigenous engagement in the context of Indigenous rights including Supreme Court decisions and UNDRIP.
