The CBA Competition Law and Foreign Investment Review Section’s Corporate Counsel and Compliance Committee present:

Competition Law Basic Training Program: How to Spot Issues and Red Flags

June 17, 2024 | 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Eastern
Online (Zoom)

Since 2022, there have been significant amendments to the Competition Act, with more currently before Parliament. These changes will affect businesses of all sizes and in every sector. Now is the time for private practitioners and in-house counsel to understand recent developments in competition law.

The program is designed for non-experts in competition law to spot issues and red flags, and to know how to handle them and who to call. For example, did you know that wage-fixing and no-poaching agreements among unaffiliated employers are now illegal and can attract criminal liability?

The program will cover:

  • A competition 101 primer
  • Key recent and proposed amendments to the Competition Act and their implications
  • Educational and compliance resources available for lawyers and their clients

Moderator

Megan MacDonald, Regulatory Counsel at Rogers Communications

Speakers

Majid Charania: Director of Compliance, Competition Bureau

Beth Riley: Partner, Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment, McMillan
