December 13, 2023 – Module 6: Indigenous Peoples and the Criminal Legal System
The Path – Your Journey through Indigenous Canada is an on-demand, 6-module interactive course that sets out to demystify some of the legal issues surrounding the Canadian Constitution, the Indian Act, historic and modern treaties, recent rulings by the Supreme Court of Canada and more.
If you haven’t yet taken The Path – or want to take it again – please join us on the journey together. Open to all CBA members, this is an opportunity to learn, discuss and reconnect with each other on a vital topic for lawyers in Canada.
Here is what you need to do:
- Enroll in the discussion group by selecting the appropriate registration option:
- Discussion group only: “I have previously registered for The Path and I will refer to my existing materials.”
- Discussion group PLUS The Path: “I have not previously registered for The Path. Please register me for The Path at the discounted rate of $85 (regular $95).”
- Watch each of the six modules on your own time (approx. 48 minutes each).
- Attend biweekly discussion group meetings on Zoom, hosted by the CBA Aboriginal Law Section and the CBA Immigration Law Section. There will be six discussion groups in total, one for each module.
Attend all six discussion group sessions or join as you can. There will be a moderator in each session to facilitate discussion and reflection on the most recent module. Breakout rooms may be used, depending on registration numbers.
