The CBA Competition Law and Foreign Investment Review Section’s Young Lawyers Committee presents:
Competition Law Young Lawyers Symposium 2022
June 09, 2022 | 04:00 PM to 5:45 PM Eastern
Online (Zoom)
Join the Young Lawyers Committee for our virtual Symposium focused on the nuts and bolts of competition law. Each 30 minute substantive session focuses on building practical skills that will set you up for success, and our unofficial social event will connect you with fellow members of the Competition Bar (the “Bar”).
When do pricing policies cross the line?
This session will introduce you to common pricing policies and provide practical tips on what to look for when reviewing and commenting on such policies from a competition law perspective. Further, this session will also address the Competition Bureau’s (the “Bureau”) enforcement activity and highlight best practices when advising clients who are considering implementing such policies.
Crash Course on the Bureau’s Immunity Program
This session will provide an overview of the nuts and bolts of the Bureau's Immunity Program. It will also discuss the impact of recent changes to the Program and identify key issues to consider when advising clients faced with the decision of whether to participate.
Market Definition in Horizontal Merger Review
In a horizontal merger, market definition is often the first step in evaluating the merger’s competitive effects. This session will introduce you to common economic concepts and analyses for determining the market definition in a horizontal merger using hypothetical examples.
Unofficial Social Event
Join your colleagues for an unofficial après-symposium drink at Eighteen30 (9 Clarence Square, Toronto) where you will have an opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow members of the Bar. We welcome all interested lawyers, economists, officers, and anyone else, to join us from 7:00 – 11:00 pm. Note that this is not a CBA sponsored event.
