Walking through an office creates opportunities for interaction, socialisation and connection. The opportunities, in turn, create a sense of belonging and collective purpose. Working remotely weakens those ties, as emotional connections to organisations and co-workers wane or evaporate. Without these connections, you can feel isolated, untethered, existing without the socialisation and purpose created by an office environment.
