1:00 pm – 2:30 pm National Security Reviews of Foreign Investments – Critical Minerals, Critical Infrastructure and Sensitive Technology

This past May, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry published guidelines on the National Security Review of Investments. These guidelines cross-reference the Critical Minerals list published by National Resources Canada and Canada’s National Strategy for Critical Infrastructure. The guidelines also include an appendix of sensitive technology sectors, which has expanded well beyond pure defence applications.
This panel will explore the new National Security Guidelines and the anticipated implications of these guidelines on foreign investors and Canada’s security and economic productivity.
