Recreational Cannabis Business in Canada: Legal Practice Points

The Canadian government’s legalization of cannabis for non-medical, recreational use has created opportunities and challenges for businesses. Corporate and commercial lawyers have been asked by their clients to respond and navigate through various legal issues, such as regulatory, cross-border, and supply chain management matters. National businesses navigate through differences in regulations among provinces. International businesses navigate through differences between legal and non-legal jurisdictions.

In this webinar, our knowledgeable speakers will discuss insights and lessons learned 6 months after the legalization of recreational cannabis in Canada. They will also explain how lawyers have adapted in this new industry.

Topics will include:

  • Corporate/M&A issues arising from business transactions involving cannabis-related businesses
  • Capital markets and the current landscape for raising capital for cannabis-related businesses
  • Regulations – comparing structures and approaches among the provinces
  • Indigenous and local government considerations
