Moving to virtual hearings has presented unique challenges for courts across Canada. Despite the many challenges the pandemic has created to the administration of justice, it has also provided opportunities to rethink and improve access to justice. How will the world re-adapt to in-person hearings following the pandemic? Judges have to consider the implications for the rule of law and the court’s systems. Join the Honourable Roger Lafrenière as he discusses ethical issues, provides some practical tips and considers the future of virtual hearings. Questions will be welcomed and encouraged.
Speaker:
The Honourable Roger R. Lafrenière, Federal Court
Moderator:
The Honourable Annette J.R. Horst, Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench (Family Division)
