1:00 pm - 2:30 pm Copyright Board Town Hall (This session is not sponsored)
The 2nd annual forum, hosted by CBA and Copyright Board, allows members of the Copyright Board and bar to engage in an open discussion in a “town hall” format. This year’s Copyright Board Town Hall will focus on its modernization efforts since the entry into force of changes to the Copyright Act in 2019 and of the government’s new regulations in 2020. These efforts address the challenges faced by the Board in respect to timeliness, predictability and clarity of its proceedings, and will enable it to realize its mandate as economic regulator and independent administrative tribunal in the Canadian copyright ecosystem.
