The Section’s meeting with the Trade Law Bureau is always a highlight of meeting season. We look forward to discussing the status of Free Trade Agreements, trade remedies, World Trade Organization cases and Investor State Dispute Settlement cases.
The presentation will cover: (1) an update on recent free trade agreements and negotiations including the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement, the Canada-Mercosur Free Trade Agreement, the UK-Canada Trade Continuity Agreement, Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership accessions, and other ongoing free trade negotiations; (2) notable developments in trade remedies litigation and practice including in the United States, subsidies reform at the World Trade Organization, and the ongoing softwood lumber litigation; (3) an update on the appellate body impasse at the World Trade Organization and recent cases of note involving or implicating Canada; and (4) an update on trends and developments in investor-state dispute settlement, investment reform initiatives, and digital trade issues and initiatives.
