OBA Sole, Small Firm and General Practice & Law Practice Management PROGRAM

The "Things I wish I knew before I started my Law Firm" program is designed to provide senior and aspiring lawyers with introductory knowledge and tools that will assist in the successful operation of a law firm. The program is intended to provide a broader awareness to lawyers looking to establish a rewarding legal practice.
The program also provides a cursory exploration of legal and ethical considerations, involving client management, file management. Attendees will gain an awareness of ethical issues faced by small firm or solo lawyers that will assist in managing risk, while growing into the role of a lawyer and business owner. It is of outmost importance for a solo lawyer to employ best practices at the outset, in order to avoid issues with clients, the LSO and LawPRO.
In addition, the program provides guidance on staffing, team building, hiring practices, performance management, training, and talent development.
The use of legal technological tools will also be explored in order to provide attendees with insight into the legal tools they should be exploring for their type of practice.
