OBA Canadian Corporate Counsel Association – Ontario Chapter PROGRAM
Original Program Date: July 13, 2022

This program is part of the CCCA In-House Counsel ESG Series.

The rise of ESG is changing the business world as stakeholders increasingly expect businesses to make their operations more sustainable and to report on these sustainability initiatives. Reflecting this growing trend, the Canadian Securities Administrators recently proposed National Instrument 51-107 Disclosure of Climate-related Matters, which will expand climate-related disclosure requirements for Canadian companies.  Additionally, ESG issues, including climate change, can now result in financial and reputational risk for many companies, and it is becoming paramount to develop the ability to properly identify and assess these risks.

The CCCA is pleased to partner with WeirFoulds LLP to share insights on how in-house counsel can play a critical role in keeping their businesses ahead of the ESG and climate change regulatory curve by identifying priorities and opportunities, as well as managing and reducing risks. The discussion will also encompass recent developments, and best practices, for disclosure in this era of increasing climate focus.
