OBA PROGRAM | Original Program Date: December 17, 2021
Ontario recently enacted new laws to amend the Employment Standards Act, 2000, and is the first province to pass a law about the “right to disconnect”. While these laws have been in place in many European countries, they are unprecedented in Canada and will require certain workplaces in Ontario to adopt written policies regarding employees’ “right to disconnect” from work after hours. Join our expert faculty, from Ontario and Europe, to learn about this novel development in Ontario’s labour/employment law, including:
- What these changes to the ESA mean for employers
- Key takeaways from other jurisdictions that have implemented similar “right to disconnect” policies for employees, such as France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and Portugal, as well as other EU initiatives
- Insights for developing collective agreements and after-work disconnection policies
Register now and ensure you are up-to-date on how the forthcoming “right to disconnect” could impact employee/employer relations across Ontario!
