OBA Professional Development PROGRAM | 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM (ET)
Join us as Jill R. Presser, General Editor and contributing author of forthcoming “Litigating Artificial Intelligence” broadly examines the artificial intelligence tools being utilized in Canada. She will focus on where these tools are already being used, how they impact our justice system and the lawyers who practice within it, and what justice system participants need to be aware of with respect to them. In her survey of the current situation, Ms. Presser will also address:
- Where these artificial intelligence tools are coming on stream and likely to come on stream
- Algorithmic bias, accuracy and reliability concerns with algorithmic outputs
- How algorithmic bias can compromise due process and how substantive Charter rights can be violated by them
- How lawyers and other justice system participants can address the challenges and rights violations that can be brought about by particular artificial intelligence tools
- How algorithmic bias can affect racialized communities within our society and affect access to justice for individuals
This unique event will tackle key issues that all practicing lawyers must be cognizant of as the use of artificial intelligence moves into every practice area. Bring yourself up to speed on the how this technology affects you as a practitioner and the clients you serve.
