Governments in Canada are afforded important legal tools, to help protect the public, during times of crisis.  From federal legislation, such as the Emergency Powers Act and the Quarantine Act, to provincial powers in Ontario including the Health Protection and Promotion Act and the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, governments have numerous legislative powers at their disposal.  Join our panel of experts as they examine what powers each level of government has, the limits on those powers, and whether stronger protections are required to ensure rights are not arbitrarily restricted.

Specific topics will include:

• A review of key federal and provincial legislative powers
• How do we limit arbitrary implementation of these powers
• The argument for legal counsel during quarantine
