OBA Professional Development PROGRAM | Original Program Date: November 19, 2020
Practicing law in our new world has required new tools and new skills. During the summer, the provincial government filed a regulation which sets out the circumstances around which a Commissioner of Affidavits can remotely commission a document in Ontario. For any lawyer commissioning affidavits in Ontario, this is a significant change. Part of our discussion will focus on what is in the regulation and how to commission a document remotely as well as what basic technology requirements you need, how to undertake identification verification, what records need to be retained and best practices to guard against potential pitfalls.
The use of electronic documents in the litigation process has increased significantly in the climate we now practice in. Gain key insights from our faculty on how to manage electronic documents efficiently and competently including preparation strategies and practical tips.
Benefit from a regional perspective as our speakers discuss litigating in the South West region. Join lawyers from across the South West region as we come together to share our experiences and gain clarity while also accessing the tools and confidence to commission documents remotely and effectively manage digital documents.
Open to all members, this event is a great opportunity to connect with the OBA community of lawyers in the South West region and find out more about how the OBA can continue to support you in these challenging times.
