OBA PROGRAM | 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (EDT)
This program is the third in a series of eight programs that make up the Foundations in Judicial Competencies Certificate Program.
The third session of the OBA’s Foundations in Judicial Competencies Certificate Program, explores more of the essential pillars of judicial excellence, namely, equality and impartiality.
Equality and impartiality are fundamental qualities a judge should exhibit, in order to help them fulfil their duties by providing appropriate consideration for all parties, without discrimination. A judge must continually seek to remain informed about changing attitudes and values, to assist them with being and appearing impartial. There are limits on a judge’s civic and charitable activity, political activity and other activities or affiliations which may be considered conflicts of interest.
Our distinguished panel will share their insight into how they continue to build on these qualities over time, and provide their unique perspective on how to navigate impartiality in the face of certain events and affiliations.
