End of the Declared Emergency – What it Means for Employers and Employees [WEBCAST ONLY]

Aug. 27, 2020
ON

OBA Labour & Employment Law PROGRAM | 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (EDT)

On July 24, 2020, the declared emergency under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act was terminated. There are a number of key issues this raises for both employers and employees in regards to the Infectious Disease Emergency Leave regulation such as:

  • An employee’s entitlement to be recalled to work
  • The individual termination, mass termination, and layoff provisions of the ESA
  • ESA complaints relating to termination, severance, or constructive dismissal

Our expert faculty will address these issues and other top considerations as workplaces gradually reopen:

  • Key occupational health and safety issues (e.g. mandatory mask-wearing, COVID-19 testing, work refusals)
  • Human rights issues (e.g. accommodation based on family status)
