OBA Criminal Law PROGRAM | 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (ET)
With a backlog of cases that accumulated during the first closure of physical courthouses, limited available courtrooms and continuing public health restrictions, and a threatening second wave of the pandemic, it is essential that you have the knowledge and insights to determine whether your criminal case might be suitable to proceed by way of a remote trial.
The OBA’s Criminal Justice section conducted a demonstration that re-creates an actual in-person impaired trial as a remote trial conducted entirely over Zoom. This demonstration provides an opportunity for both Crown and defence counsel to experience a remote trial and better visualize the process. Join us for this candid discussion with the participants from the remote trial demonstration to hear first hand about the experience, and gather valuable insights to assist you in making appropriate and informed decisions as to whether your own cases would be suitable for proceeding in this manner.
