OBA Young Lawyers Division PROGRAM | Original Program Date: April 4, 2019
While the proportion of lawyers from equity-seeking groups in the Ontario legal profession has increased, many choose to pursue careers outside of law firms and are less likely to become partners or hold other leadership positions.
What are the challenges experienced by junior lawyers from equity-seeking groups in recruitment and advancement? How can law firms attract, recruit and retain diverse lawyers? What can you do to address discrimination, harassment, and exclusion in the workplace? How can you be a leader in promoting equity and diversity in the legal profession?
Join the OBA’s Young Lawyers Division in a riveting, interactive discussion on hot-topic issues surrounding diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Hear from young lawyers and leaders in student and associate recruitment, diversity coaching, and discrimination and harassment. The event hopes to encourage dialogue among young lawyers on topics related to diversity and inclusion, and equip attendees with the tools to tackle challenges in the legal profession unique to more junior members of the bar.
