OBA Women Lawyers Forum PROGRAM | Original Program Date: October 22, 2018
Even though it's 2018, sexism and barriers for women in the workplace still exist. The discussions sparked by the past year's #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have shown that there is still a lot left to fight for, and the legal profession is just as susceptible to these attitudes in our workplaces as anywhere else.
Moving beyond the larger movements and public discussions, how can lawyers tackle sexist attitudes in our workplaces on a day-to-day basis? Inspired by journalist Jessica Bennett's bestseller book, "Feminist Fight Club: A Survival Manual for a Sexist Workplace", the Women Lawyers Forum invites you to a candid, solution-focused evening addressing gender issues in legal workplaces.
In a book-club, panel-discussion format, we will debate and discuss the tools, tactics, and themes from Feminist Fight Club as they apply to the legal profession. Learn from our panelists about their experiences as lawyers in creating equal spaces for themselves in the office and in the courtroom. Leave the event not just with a set of tools for use in any legal workplace, but also with an understanding of how the movement for gender equality at the workplace starts with you.
