Ontario Bar Association and Roundtable of Diversity Association (RODA) PROGRAM
Original Program Date: November 27, 2017
The RODA-OBA Annual Diversity Conference returns to provide thought-provoking and practical discussions on current issues for diverse lawyers and allies. Join us to debate some of the biggest developments in 2017, gain practical career tips, and hear advice on how to support diversity as part of your practice.
Choose sessions from the substantive track and/or career track. The substantive law track has been designed to help you get up to speed on the most recent cases affecting equity seeking groups, the business implications of upcoming federal accessibility legislation, and the impact of legal technology, innovation, and market dynamics. The career track offers sessions on volunteering and giving back to your community, alternative careers for lawyers, and a primer on public appointments in Canada.
Join us for a timely discussion about what reconciliation means for the legal community. Examine the current state of the law concerning the limits on freedom of religion and freedom of speech and consider how online speech and political organizing will test the boundaries of the law in Canada. Attend our workshop on overcoming implicit bias and walk away with practical strategies to implement in your legal workplace to accelerate a culture shift.
