Description

Can unionized employees bring complaints about human rights violations in the workplace to the Human Rights Commission? Or are they required to bring a grievance before a labour arbitrator instead? Recently, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal had the opportunity to decide this question in Nova Scotia (Human Rights Commission) v. Nova Scotia (Attorney General), 2023 NSCA 66 (“Carleton”). Learn more about this decision and its potential implications in this virtual session with some of the counsel involved in the proceedings.
