SPEAKERs

Jane Elise Bates, Cox & Palmer

Jane Elise Bates currently serves as Counsel and Innovation Lead in Cox & Palmer's Halifax office and is Vice-Chair of the CBA-NS Business Law Section. Before joining private practice, Jane spent 15 years working as corporate counsel within government and multi-national corporations in the telecommunications, security, defence, and aviation industries. In 2015, she was awarded 'In-House Counsel of the Year' at the Australian Law Awards.
Jane is a Certified Information Privacy Professional and worked in Australia and France before relocating to Canada. Prior to joining Cox & Palmer, Jane served as the Executive Director of the CBA in Nova Scotia and was instrumental in leading the branch's response to the pandemic.

Matt Saunders, Deloitte Legal

Matt Saunders is a data privacy and cybersecurity lawyer at Deloitte Legal Canada. He is also Chair of the CBA-NS Privacy & Access to Information Law Section and holds an IAPP certification for Canada. Presently, Matt's work focuses on managing complex multidisciplinary mandates in privacy and cybersecurity, and acting as a breach coach for large data incidents.
