Freedom of Expression Affects Your Practice (Yes, Really!)

This session is focused on freedom of expression under the Charter, aimed at practitioners with a general practice who are curious about whether and how Charter rights (and specifically freedom of expression) might be relevant to their work.  It also will be of interest to those with a constitutional and/or administrative law practice that would like a "refresher" from leading experts from academia and private practice.   Our distinguished guests will discuss freedom of expression in the context of current events and recent cases. 
Specifically, the panel will address:

          1.    When do administrative bodies have to consider freedom of expression in their 
                 decision-making, and how do they do it?
          2.    What is the definition of a government body that has to comply with the freedom of 
                 expression guarantee?
          3.    When is freedom of expression violated, and what factors are balanced in deciding whether 
                 incursions on freedom of expression are justified?

A 20% administrative fee will apply to cancellations received in writing by the CBA Branch office up to three (3) business days before the program. After that, no refunds will be issued, but materials and recordings (if available) will be provided. You may substitute another person in your place if you are unable to attend. ABC-NB-CBA reserves the right to cancel sessions due to low registration.
