New Child & Adult Protection Justice Model
October 25, 2024 • 12 pm - 1:30 pm • Webcast (Zoom)
New Brunswick is introducing a new child & adult protection justice model aimed at improving access to family justice. Our province has been plagued with access to family justice issues for well over 2 decades. In the Fall of 2024, a new child & adult protection justice model will be introduced largely based on the extremely successful model used in the Province of Manitoba. Hearing Officers will be involved in the initial stages of child & adult protection matters using a non-adversarial approach and resolving many pre-trial issues. The approach will be centered on proactive case resolution without the necessity for trials, thus greatly reducing child protection court time and improving access to family justice for all other Family Division matters.
