The psychological impact of judicial work: What we know from the research

Presented by the CBA Judges Section
Monday, June 9, 2025 | 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm ET

What do we know about the psychological experience of judges? Though once considered ‘an unmentionable topic’, judicial stress and wellbeing is now a field of international research interest and discussion. This webinar will look at the small but growing body of empirical scholarship, focusing in particular on the presenter’s own research in Australia, to explore the evidence-base for the unfolding international conversation on judicial wellbeing, and the strategies that courts and judges can implement to protect occupational health and sustainability in this critical and complex role.
