The CBA Immigration Law Section presents:

CBA Immigration Law Section Lunch & Learn

Are You Prepared?  Strategies for navigating shifts in Canadian and US immigration and protecting our mental wellbeing

January 28th, 2025 | 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM Eastern
Online (Zoom)

As we head into a likely election in Canada and as the Trump administration takes power, the practice of Canadian immigration law will shift dramatically. Join our panel of experienced lawyers from Canada and the US as we discuss how US politics have and will influence our policies and how, as lawyers, we can fortify and protect our mental wellbeing in these challenging times. Some of the topics we’ll discuss are:

  • The Trump administration’s impact on Canadian sovereignty
  • The spillover of public opinion on immigration from the US right
  • What the tightening of economic immigration policies and mass deportations in the US could mean for Canada
  • Mental health issues immigration lawyers will face when dealing with an increasing rate of government rejections and less options for assisting clients
  • How law firms can help their employees cope with the stress of dealing with the new environment
  • How immigration lawyers can fortify ourselves mentally and emotionally against upcoming challenges within the new political systems
