The Digital Playground: Navigating Children's Privacy Rights (Recording)
This webinar explores the complex landscape of children's privacy rights in the digital world. Momentum around the topic of children's privacy rights is growing rapidly in many jurisdictions: in Canada, numerous children’s privacy initiatives are ongoing; in the US, a number of states have passed new online safety laws to protect the rights of children and teens online; and in the EU, the Irish Data Protection Commission fined TikTok for GDPR violations relating to children's personal data. This webinar brings together academics and practitioners for a discussion about the international human rights and legislative underpinnings of children's privacy, the "on the ground" legal and ethical issues that arise in the context of children's privacy rights in various settings, and key considerations for all practitioners when children's personal information is being collected, used and disclosed.
