Indigenous Justice Strategies (Recording)

Presented by the CBA Judges Section

Tuesday, January 30, 2024 | 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm ET

In September of 2022 The Alberta Court of Justice approved an Indigenous Justice Strategy, the first time a court in Canada had done so. The Strategy contains 20 Responses ( action items) to the TRC and the many other Commissions and Inquiry Reports published throughout the country. Former Chief Justice Derek Redman will discuss how this Strategy was developed and the steps the Court has undertaken to breathe life into the Responses. He will be joined by Clarissa Pearce, the Courts Executive Legal Counsel and Justice Karen Crowshoe.

Speakers:

The Honourable Justice Derek Redman, Alberta Court of Justice
Clarissa Pearce, Alberta Court Executive Legal Counsel
The Honourable Justice Karen Crowshoe, Alberta Court of Justice

Moderator: The Honourable Justice Johanna Price, Alberta Court of Justice

This judges-only webinar will be conducted in English and French with simultaneous interpretation. Questions may be posed in either language.
