Preparing your client when entering Canada has always been important, but it has become even more crucial in the time of COVID. This session will address the myriad of issues that can arise during an examination at the port of entry, including:
- COVID restrictions & rules
- Admissibility issues
- Refugee situations, including an understanding of US refugee claim procedures and dealing with the STCA
- Is there a right to counsel at the port of entry? Can a client request that the examining officer contact counsel?
- Options – when should your client ask to withdraw?
