Meeting Evolving Ethics Obligations when Working Remotely or in a Hybrid Arrangement
Working from home is the new normal for many lawyers, whether due to a pandemic or as a preferred work arrangement. This shift has dramatically altered how lawyers work and represent their clients. Consequently, lawyers must be vigilant about providing effective communication with clients and protecting the security and confidentiality of their client information. They need to know how they and their staff access data and take steps regularly to prevent computer viruses and other cybersecurity risks. Ensure you have the new skills and knowledge to maintain your ever-changing professional obligations, including steps you need to take to:
- Manage client confidentiality risks including those posed by family members and virtual assistants
- Secure and record video conferences: important considerations
- Encrypt client communications: what, when and how?
- Avoid cyberattacks: preventative measures you need to take
- Maintain professionalism and business etiquette
- Lead your team remotely and stay connected with the office
