The Costs of Litigation: Strategic and Practical Considerations for Predicting and Managing Litigation Costs with Budgets, Financing and Other Innovative Tools
Have things changed since the Supreme Court of Canada stated 15 years ago that “protracted litigation had become the sport of kings in the sense that only kings or equivalent can afford it”? Are we now better equipped and are there tools we should be using or considering to predict and manage litigation costs? Are there creative ways that law departments and law firms can better work together to increase value?
Our panelists will discuss the challenges experienced by in-house counsel and litigation attorneys, whether outside lawyers are sufficiently innovative in their fee structure and share trends and predictions. They will cover potential ways to reduce legal spending, including litigation finance, and strategies to ensure that the interests of all stakeholders are aligned.
