We’re generally familiar with horizontal mergers and assessing overlaps between horizontal competitors, but when do mergers between firms that produce products at different levels of a supply chain raise issues? How do we address vertical relationships in submissions to the Competition Bureau? This session is intended to review the theories of harm that support remedies for vertical mergers, the historical case law, the Bureau’s enforcement approach, and provide some practical tips to lawyers in their first few years of practice.
