Presenter: Sylvie Lang
Recipient: Isabelle Guevara for "Data Fiduciaries and Privacy Protection in the Digital Age"
11:10 am – 12:00 pm COVID-Related Access Issues
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed certain frailties in the access to information infrastructure as government institutions and public bodies struggled to respond to access requests in a timely manner given the barriers to accessing paper and, in some cases, electronic records while working remotely. Canada’s access to information regulators issued a joint resolution in response, calling on governments to use the lessons learned during the pandemic to improve access rights. This session explores how governments should continue to modernize access rights, including by leveraging technology and innovation.
Speakers:
Cynthia Richardson, Federal Government of Canada
Volker Helmuth, Delta Police
Moderator:
Sylvie Lang, Alberta Health Services
