This session will focus on issues related to entering Canada to study and progressing to permanent residence, with all the additional hurdles resulting from COVID-19. Issues covered will include:
- Authorized study without a study permit;
- Obtaining a study permit;
- Challenges posed when study programs are delivered remotely;
- Entering Canada to pursue studies with pandemic restrictions;
- Maintaining student status and eligibility for a post-graduate work permit;
- Options for post-secondary graduates to pursue permanent resident status; and
This session will also investigate potential future challenges to accommodate qualifying international students within Canada’s existing economic immigration programs.
