Guilty Pleas and Fines
April 30, 2020 | 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Eastern
Teleconference
Join our panel of crown and defence counsel for an in-depth discussion of recent developments in the negotiation of guilty pleas and fines in criminal matters under the Competition Act, including changes to the Leniency Program, the use of prohibition orders, and the impact of R. v. Jordan. The panel will also address the steps leading to a guilty plea – from the initial negotiation of the plea (fines, sentencing, charges/counts) and plea agreement, to the preparation of court materials (indictment/charge, statement of admissions, sentencing submissions), obtaining court approval, and post-sentencing issues.
